Guilt-less Desserts & Treats for your Family

Gluten Free Chocolate Cake

I like biscuits. I really like desserts but I LOVE cake. I could bake (and eat!) cakes all day. There’s something wonderful about creating a masterpiece from the raw ingredients and seeing the smiles on peoples faces when they eat it.

I love to gift cakes. Birthdays aren’t really complete without an over the top delicious cake to indulge in so instead of presents I often bake for my friends. It also means I get to eat cake if they choose to share it (that’s still selfless giving right?!).

I love spending time (ok hours and hours!) pouring through cook books, pining on my Pinterest Boards and googling things like ‘what cake should I bake today’; looking for inspiration and something that makes my mouth water.

Sometimes though I need a simple recipe. Not one with pages of instructions and long you tube videos to follow, but instead something that means I’ll get my cake fix quick and easy.

Enter; the Gluten Free Chocolate Cake.

This Gluten Free Chocolate Cake is super easy, so so tasty and (most importantly) will have you eating cake within the hour.

I’ve been a bit obsessed lately with my 1 bowl recipes. It started with cupcakes and then a cake. It slowly progressed into these fruit flavoured cakes and finally this Gluten Free Chocolate Cake… because Chocolate. Duh! This Gluten Free Chocolate Cake uses just 1 bowl, a whisk and requires minimal bicep power so it’s kid friendly in the kitchen too.

For this Gluten Free Chocolate Cake I have used my favourite Healthy Chocolate Frosting (because cake is always an opportunity to hide veggies) and in the coming weeks I’ll show you some other ways to fancy up this simple recipe.

I feel I should say more about this Gluten Free Chocolate Cake. I should be selling the simplicity of it, the great taste of it, even the fact that there’s not much washing up to do. But instead why don’t you get your bake on and dive into a huge piece of cake…then you’ll understand how great it its.

      • Preheat the oven to 180C/360F.
      • Line and grease a 20cm/8 inch round cake tin.
      • In a large bowl place the wet ingredients and lightly whisk by hand. DO NOT over whisk/mix.
      • Add the dry ingredients into the bowl and lightly whisk until just combined. DO NOT over whisk/mix. I like to sift my dry indredients straight into the bowl.
      • Pour the mixture into the tin and smooth the top.
      • Place in the oven and bake for 35 minutes, or until cooked through.
      • Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the tin. Do not remove until cooled completely.
      • Frost with your favourite topping.
      • The cake itself does not need to be refridgerated but the frosting may.

      1. Hello. I want to make this cake for my sons christening, can I make it in advance and freeze it? Many thanks.

        • Im sorry for the late reply. Yes it should freeze fine. Make sure you wrap it well before freezing and defrost it fully before decorating.
